CSCS card from the Construction Skills Certification Scheme is the leading competence card scheme for individuals working in construction, ensuring they are up-to-date and can demonstrate an agreed level of occupational competence. For individuals, having a CSCS card verifies your identity and shows employers that you have the required qualifications, training and experience to carry out your work on a construction site.
Whilst CSCS is not a legal requirement, more and more contractors are making the scheme mandatory for their construction sites.
Anyone working or visiting a construction site may be required by the client or contractor to show their CSCS card. It is important that you hold the right CSCS card for the type of work you undertake. If you do not have a card, or hold the wrong card, access to construction sites may be denied.

CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) is the leading competence card scheme for individuals working in construction, ensuring they are up-to-date and can demonstrate an agreed level of occupational competence.
Many contractors and clients insist that all workers on site hold a CSCS card to show that their qualifications and training have been certified, are up-to-date and they have appropriate health and safety awareness.
Anyone working or visiting a construction site may be required by the client or contractor to show their CSCS card. Without a relevant CSCS card, access to construction sites may be denied.
In order to gain a CSCS card, you will be required to pass the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test. Once the 45-minute test has been completed, we make it hassle-free obtaining your card by carrying out the paperwork and application process on your behalf. The card will then be posted to your home address.
For the different cards you will need proof of practical competence, usually this means having an S/NVQ.
To determine you are applying for the correct CSCS card – you can use the online CITB Card Finder to find which card is the right on for you and the the job that you do. This will also tell you the type of CITB Health, Safety and Envirnment test you will need to take.
CSCS Cards through PM Training are £70 + VAT. This includes booking of the test, the test itself, applying for the card and the actual card itself. We complete all the necessary paperwork for you – saving time and any headaches in completing the administration required!
All tests last for 45 minutes and have 50 multiple-choice questions including:
These are computer based tests. A tutorial is available before the test which explains how everything works. A member of staff will also be on hand during your test appointment to help with any queries or issues.

If you don’t have suitable ID you can use an Identification Waiver Form (details on how to complete and use the form are included on the document).
Staff at our test centre will check your documents when you arrive. You will not be able to sit your test if you don’t have the relevant documents, and you will lose your fee.
Will I get charged if I miss my test appointment?
If you cancel or reschedule your test giving 24 hours notice you will not be charged.
The CPCS renewal test is split into test modules – each module has 15 randomly selected multiple choice questions which need to be answered within 15 minutes.
Modules are CPCS plant specific and the questions are based on a range of topics and key knowledge expected of experienced plant operators and have been devised through consultation with plant-based employers and health and safety related data.
Different modules have been developed to meet the demands of different types of construction plant and trades. Modules are available for each category of plant or for a group of similar categories. You will need to make sure that you take and prepare for the right one(s).
Cardholders will need to pass each module in order to retain each category when renewing their Competent Operator (Blue) Card.
If you take between one and five CPCS renewal test modules, the cost of your test is £40.00.
If you take more than five modules for the CPCS renewal test, this will cost £65.00 for the first five modules and another £25.00 for upto another five additional modules.
Please note we are only able to provide the renewal test – individuals will need to complete and send off applications for the card themselves.
